A New Approach to determine the Foot Classification based on Footprint Spatial Area

Leonardo M. Rocha, Juliana Lacerda Dias and William Dias Belangero

Abstract. The morphological and functional importance of the human foot shape has been analyzing in several recent works. Its importance on the pathology diagnostics is one of the most controversial issues in orthopedics but there is indubitable opinion: the pathology treatment is strongly dependent on accurate measurement and diagnosis. Static footprint is focus of several works which discuss the development and natural history of the human foot. This contribution presents a new methodology of studying and evaluating the foot classification based on the footprint spatial area observation.
