Computer Vision Guidance in Medical Applications

Abstract. Computer vision techniques for tracking real objects, surgical tools, patient’s organs are been integrated in the medical scenarios. We present a marker-based approach followed by a rigid registration to align real and virtual objects. The case study is a maxillofacial surgery and the method provides virtual and augmented aid to the surgeon while s/he is performing the osteotomy.
